September 4, 2025

Dear Community,

We’re grateful to share hopeful news: after a brief but difficult pause, the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) will resume core services in early September. Your outpouring of support — and the tenacity of our team — made this possible.

Here’s what to expect:

24-Hour Support & Resource Line

  • Reopens Friday, September 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM
  • Available 24/7 moving forward.
  • (503) 640-5311, or toll-free 1-888-640-5311

Daytime Advocacy and Support Services

  • Reopens Monday, September 8, 2025 (8:30 AM–4:00 PM) at the Family Justice Center of Washington County, Monday—Friday for walk-ins and appointments. 735 SW 158th Ave, Ste. 100, Beaverton, OR 97006.
  • Services include emotional support, housing advocacy, safety planning, warm referrals to other community resources, and emergency survivor supportive services.
  • Sexual-assault–related protective order assistance will be available Mondays & Tuesdays.

Accompaniment Services to Washington County Hospitals & Law Enforcement

  • Resuming during daytime weekdays starting Monday, September 8, 2025.
  • Services include advocacy, emotional support, information and more during forensic and wellness exams, as well as accompaniment during law enforcement interviews and reporting.
  • Evening/weekend accompaniment will return later; Washington County hospitals have protocols to connect patients with SARC for next-business-day follow-up.

Community Education, Training & Outreach

  • Restarts Monday, September 8, 2025.

What’s Changing (for now)

Due to funding shifts, SARC is no longer providing licensed counseling or therapeutic group counseling. Case management has been paused indefinitely. As resources grow, we plan to launch peer-led support groups and movement- and art-based healing workshops for survivors and other community members after the 2026 new year.

Volunteer Advocates Needed

Volunteers are essential to SARC. They sometimes are the first people survivors ever tell their story to and are pillars of prevention. By volunteering, you can help those you care about while also gaining invaluable professional experience and community connections. Our next 40-hour Basic Advocacy (Certification) Training begins October 1, 2025, through November 10, 2025.

We are rebuilding with care and urgency. To fully restore all programs and services, we’re still working to close a $150,000 budget gap. If you’re able, please support our We Can’t Stay Silent — We Need You campaign so we can keep showing up for survivors and the community in the unique ways they need: www.sarcoregon.org/donate
