• LATINX PROGRAM

WHY DO YOU USE THE TERM LATINX?

At SARC we want to offer safe and inclusive services to all types of people, regardless of their race, beliefs, sexual orientation, gender/sex, etc. We recognize that in Spanish, linguistic gender exists in such a way that requires individuals to identify with a binary gender. The terms “latinA”, “latinO” or “latin@” exist in a binary, and only include cis-male and cis-women, and do not represent the entire gender spectrum. When we use the “x”, our purpose is to provide a gender-neutral word, so everyone may feel welcome.

WHAT SERVICES DOES THIS PROGRAM OFFER?

This program is still growing, but we’re looking to offer support groups for survivors, psycho-educational groups for friends and family, community presentations, case management and more!

ARE THERE OTHER SERVICES SARC OFFERS IN SPANISH?

SARC offers various services in Spanish and in English.

Crisis phone line: SARC partners with “El Programa Hispano”. The Spanish crisis line is run by the “Unica” project. If you need resources 24×7 you can call 503-232-4448 for help in English and 503.640.5311 for help in Spanish.

Counseling program: The Alder counseling program offers mental health services in Spanish and English. Space is limited, contact us for availability. More information on our counseling program here

Case management: SARC offers bilingual (Spanish/English) case management. The case managers offer emotional support and help survivors navigate the legal system, find resources needed, etc.
